The Forgotten Runes of Arthen: The Legendary Hero Who Conquered the Six Seals of Darkness

Translated from the sacred runes preserved in the Codex of Morn’Thalor, the Sage of Olhenar

“In the deep mists of time, when darkness threatened to consume all realms, a warrior rose with immortal courage. His name: Arthen. Let the thunder repeat his deeds. Let the stars bow to his memory.”
Inscription from the Rune Stone of Tyraven, read under the full moon in the 1213th Year of the Third Age

Thus begins the tale of the Last Hero:

At dawn on the Day of Sangraal, as the skies wept in silence and the winds brought only the echo of death, Arthen, son of Loras, a knight without a kingdom, walked alone into the cursed cavern of Vur-Khazak. His purpose was not glory—it was justice.

They say the entrance to the abyss resembled a petrified scream. There, Arthen carved the Sign of Awakening (Ω) into the stone and stepped beyond the realm of men into the dominion of forgetting.

The First Seal – Silent Agony

The first chamber welcomed him with treachery. An ancient trap hurled him into a pit of acid. His flesh burned, his armor hissed. But his soul—unbroken.

Wounded, he faced a Giant Rat with red eyes and blade-sharp teeth. The battle was swift and bloody.

Before silence could return, a Flaming Skull rose from the darkness. Surrounded by fire and hatred, it shrieked across the room. Arthen answered with steel—and silence fell once again.

The First Seal had shattered.

The Second Seal – Liryel’s Light

He entered the second level beneath broken statues and faded inscriptions. A worn altar bore the symbol of Liryel, goddess of light. As Arthen laid his hand upon it, divine light enveloped him, restoring every wound.

Soon after, the shadows birthed a Giant Spider, venomous and cruel. But Arthen split her open with one strike.

Then came the Cyclops—The Hungry Giant.

A creature of hunger and ancient rage. It hurled Arthen against stone walls. Bones cracked. Still, he rose, and drove his blade deep into its single eye.

The Second Seal was broken.

The Third Seal – Beholder’s Whispers

A Lizardman ambushed him on the third floor. Arthen slew him quickly. But falling stones in the next hall left him bruised and bloodied.

Then it appeared—The Beholder. A floating orb of twisted eyes and raw madness.

Each gaze struck his mind like a scream from another world. Arthen fell to his knees, but faith and fury rose in his veins. His blade sang once more—and the creature was no more.

The Third Seal cracked with a shiver in the earth.

The Fourth Seal – The Orb and the Vampire

A lone Goblin tried to ambush him. Its heart met Arthen’s steel.

But beyond that chamber, something pulsed: The Orb of Devastating Power.
As he reached for it, he felt all of time shudder. The Orb pulsed in his palm—a weapon of gods and doom.

Then came Vlad, the Ancient Vampire.

Drenched in blood, whispering immortality. They fought like shadows clashing. Arthen used the Orb. It glowed like a second sun. And Vlad fell—forever.

The Fourth Seal crumbled.

The Fifth Seal – The Roar of Martuk

No warning.

Martuk, the Dragon King, descended from above. Wings of terror, eyes like fire.

Arthen struck first—and was nearly slain. The Orb glowed again. A burst of devastating light. And Martuk was cast down like a comet from the heavens.

The Fifth Seal was undone.

The Sixth Seal – The Nameless One

The final hall was a void. There was no time, no breath. Just darkness.

And then… He came.
The Nameless One.

A being not born, not shaped—only feared. With a thousand eyes and no face.

The air froze. Arthen staggered, but the Orb shone one last time. A final blaze of divine wrath surged through him. He struck—piercing the impossible.

And all was quiet.

The Sixth Seal had shattered.

Epilogue – The Name Carved in Stars

When Arthen emerged from Vur-Khazak, he was no longer just a man.

He was the Legendary Hero.

His tale was carved into the rune-stones of kings. Sung by wandering bards. And etched in the constellations above.

“No one knows the day of their death. But as long as darkness lingers, someone will remember Arthen. And that shall be enough.”
Last verse from the Book of Eternal Heroes, sealed within the Halls of Runemoor

Would you survive the six seals… or fall forgotten in the dark?
